The Social Security System of the Philippines or SSS has warned the public on scams regarding the application for the Unified Multi-Purpose Identification or UMID card.
A text scam has been reported to SSS by concerned citizens, wherein the unknown senders offer assistance to expedite or speed up the processing of their UMID card application in exchange for a fee.
According to SSS, they do NOT have rush application for UMID cards. They also do not collect any fees for faster processing and/or releasing of these UMID cards.
Processing of UMID cards are on a first-in first-out basis. Meaning, if you applied earlier than your colleague, your UMID card will be processed and released earlier than his/her.
What to do if you received this text scam?
- Visit the nearest SSS branch
If you happen to be a recipient of these text scams, all you have to do is to report this incident to the nearest SSS branch. Bring your cellphone with the text message that you received and show it to one of the SSS officers.
- Call SSS Hotline
You may also call the SSS hotline at 920-6446 to 55.
- Email SSS
You may also send your concerns to member_relations@sss.gov.ph
- File a report using your mobile number
Recipients of these fraudulent text messages are also encouraged to file a report with their own mobile phone service provider to stop the dissemination of bogus SSS text messages through their networks.
How to Verify the Status of your UMID Application?
In some cases, the processing of UMID really takes longer than the normal turnaround time of 30 to 60 days from the date of application.
To verify the status of your UMID Application, you may email idcpd@sss.gov.ph with the subject: Thru Facebook, and send the following info:
- Complete name
- 10-digit SS number
- Date of SSS UMID application
Note: The IDCPD handles the generation and dispatch of all UMID cards.
No matter how much you wanted to have your UMID card immediately, it has to go through all the processes with SSS.
And again, SSS offers NO RUSH application for UMID cards.
Therefore, you have to be patient. Just wait. You will finally have it when it’s available.
Don’t get yourself in trouble by entertaining text scams that offer RUSH or faster processing of UMID cards, because there’s no such thing with SSS.

Mag a apply po sana ako ng salary loan thru online since qualified na ang contributions ko. Activated na ang umid id ko sa unionbank as savings account, dun na po ba derecho papasok or pumapasok lang ang perang niloan pag gumamit ng loan form. Thanks po
